Classic Arms??

Looking at purchasing an AK47 for $360.00 from classic arms. Does anyone have any feedback on their ak's. I have a couple of ar's, and would like a cheap ak just to say I have one. I'm not looking to spend alot. Thanks

I have one of their's and it's the exact same AK you would buy from anyone else (century made). I have zero complaints and they are a good company to deal with.

The good thing about dealing with Classic is that they will make it right if the Century monkeys screwed the build.

I have not purchased an AK from Classic Arms, but they are a good company to deal with.

I bought a Sterling 9mm semi-auto carbine from them several months ago and am very happy with it.

Do you order the gun and then give them your dealers FFL # or does the FFL have to call up and order it? Do you have to pay sales tax on the guns?

Sales tax depends on your state I believe. You just grab their fax number off their contact info and call up your FFL and have them fax their information, then place your order, make sure the delivery address is the FFLs not yours, then kick back and wait impatiently :)

A pleasure to deal with as they do right by their customers.

In the middle of the Ammo and Gun frenzy They did NOT take people to the cleaners ( unlike many online retailers ) and had a booming business.

Very high marks :ok:

Good bunch of folks at Classic. They are always at the shows in the Charlotte area. I know a good number of people that have dealt with them over the years. No complaints.

Ditto - Classic Arms is a 'class act'.........ordered a WASR last year and my AK pistol from them just a few months back.

Very timely shipping to and great packing. :ok:

Im not defending century by any stretch of the imagination, but keyholing is caused by the barrel. Century doesnt make the barrels, they have those made by other companies, like Green Mountain.

I had the same bad taste in my mouth after they took the same parts that make up a Steyr or an ARM or an RLM and turned them into the lowest rung of the ladder. But I had been jonesing for a semiauto in .308 and out came the CETME. I got lucky and got one of the early ones without a canted front sight and that beast is a tank. Eats anything I feed it and will put it in a 6" ring at 250m all day long. I've got an item or two since then that makes me wonder if maybe the monkeys have gotten moved to the loading docks.

But when Century puts the wrong barrel knowing its the wrong one just to save
a few dollars, you really have to wonder if they are cutting corners other places.
when I bought my 74 the builder was interarms, I was lucky because at that time I did not know century from interarms.

This was the "Monday Deal" I picked up today. Very happy with everything. The only complaint is that it says 2 30 rnd mags, one of which is steel. The two I got were plastic. Other than that everything is exactly as advertised. SJ.

You're right, its hard to argue that. I dontk now much about that 74 fiasco. I can give them a little wiggle room on the first batch, but once the first reports started coming in, that should have been a clue for Century to go yell at the barrel maker.

Those plastic tapco ones arent so bad. I wouldnt want to rely on just those in combat, but they are fairly sturdy reliable mags. I got two on my AK purchase from Classic as well, and had some for my SKS and never had a hiccup with any of em.

AIM has a sale going on now 8.95 per mag if you order 10, european surplus. Works out to like 100 bucks shipped. Worth a look.

Thanks for everyone's input. I believe i may order the same package as you did silverjeep. I'm looking for a cheap reliable ak. What are your thoughts on the cheap 7.62 ammo they have.

The springs failed 4 of 10 times after a year being stored loaded. They helped me form my, less than favorable opinion of US made magazines. Admittedly I got some of the first off the line and it sounded like they took my input seriously but with the price of Euro-trash mags, why bother? I would use them for range mags and leave long term storage for those that are proven.

Hi, my name is MISRy and I am a mag-a-holic. I have given in to my weakness and resolved to organize my magazines in pretty wooden crates.

They've got that yugo surplus which is supposed to be the bees knees from AK enthusiest reports, but its corrosive as hell so be sure to give it a good cleaning after shooting, not just the basic wipe down. Or you can save it for SHTF and get some brown/silver bear for the range.

Ha! We all have our vices. :moon:

With all luck, the zombies will come soons, before my springs go bad. I definitly need to pick up some euro-trash mags, but Im too cheap to pay shipping. SO as long as SHTF doesnt happen before the next gun show, I'll be alright

Still happy, but I haven't shot it yet so...........

Will try to squeeze off a few this weekend.

I think each deal is only good for that day. If you see the add i posted above it says "today only". Don't know if that's just a pitch, but it got me.

Everything seems to be in great shape. The mag pouch is very antiquey (smelly canvas), so I'm not sure I would actually use it. But really all i was hoping for was a good weapon and a decent bayonet. I really don't give a crap about the mag pouch or cleaning kit, or sling, etc.

Re: Classic Arms??

For the record:

$389.95 for the set up
$17.05 shipping
$30.00 FFL transfer and background check.
----------------------------
$437 total!

Went to Andy's today and shot it. Performed awesome! I tried multiple magazines and only had one jam.

Had a lot of fun, ejoyed the company!

Still very happy with the buy.

Re: Classic Arms??

Was using a bunch different ammo to test. One of the Norinco rounds had a lead tip that was flattend for some reason. It caught the lip of the feed ramp and got hung up.

Will try to take the edge off the feed ramp with a file and not use crap, flatnose ammo.

minor issue.
